‘The Attic’ is the new name given to the youth room.

Wanna know why?

Of course you did, or else you wouldn’t have clicked on this link!

For superficial reasons, the room is called the attic for its location:  the room is found on the back corner of the church campus on the 2nd level.  Yup, you have to go Upstairs to get to this room.  Plus, once you get inside, the ceiling was designed in such a way as a roof looks on a house.   Aesthetically, we made the colors of the room to reflect that of an attic:  some browns with an accent of black.  But enough of the superficial reasons….let’s get to the nitty-gritty.

We all want a place to call our own, right?  We all want our OWN space where we feel free to let loose, be ourselves, and get away from it all.  Well, welcome to the Attic.  The Attic is designed to be that kind of space (and more) for teens.  Inside you’ll find a lounge area, carpeted stadium seating and high rise, gaming system, surround-sound audio for sweet movie and gaming experience, arcade air hockey table, and what hangout would complete without it’s own fridge and micro-wave?

The Attic is not only for hangin out, but it’s also designed to be a great space for building those brain cells and getting some actual work done.  With wi-fi and computer access, teens will be able to do research for projects and work on essays.  There’s plenty of lounge space for group studies or if kids just want to come in on their own and get some work done.  As an added bonus, Kyle is willing to lend a hand with some minor help in tutoring when needed.

Overall, The Attic provides a great place for kids to socialize with friends, get that much-needed schoolwork done, and offers peace and serenity to a much-needed stressful Jr. and Sr. high school life! We’ll be using the Attic primarily on Sundays and Tuesdays for youth gatherings associated with the church community of Sherman Oaks Presbyterian.
