My name is Vicki Perez and I’m in charge of the prayer chain.

Prayer hasn’t always been a passion for me, but it developed in a very simple way.  One day I prayed as I was starting my car, “Dear Lord, please help me to have a safe trip.”  I didn’t really know too much about prayer, but I started praying this prayer each time I got in my car.  The more I prayed this prayer, the more it expanded for me.  I began to pray for the cars in front of me while I was waiting at a stop light.  Then I began to pray for those crossing the crosswalk in front of me.  As this continued I thought, “I can use my commute to work to pray for others who are having a hard time.”  I started keeping a note card in my purse where I would jot down names of those in need.

I thank God that He prepared me and strengthened my prayer life, because it has helped me with my grief.  I have been in charge of the prayer chain ever since.  I pass along any prayer requests to a group of committed prayer warriors.  If the requests are confidential, I pray myself.  I have seen over and over how our Amazing Lord responds to our prayers.

What I have learned is that although there are many books, thoughts, and techniques dealing with prayer, all I really needed was a heart that wanted to connect with God.  Any words will work, and if we don’t have the words, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us.  Prayer is a mindfulness of God in our daily life—a way of being close to God.

I consider it my privilege to serve the Lord by interceding through prayer for anyone in need. Our church welcomes anyone who would be interested in joining our wonderful prayer ministry, and we provide training and resources.

Please feel free to contact me any time.

In Christ,

Vicki

We are currently training new prayer leaders to better attend to the individual needs of the members of our church and our community in worship. We are looking to add individuals to this ministry that feel called to pray for others in need. We will have a training program for those that feel led to be involved with this ministry. Those that want to become involved in this ministry should contact Pastor Zac at the church office.
